Knox Hills is currently replacing or renovating a total of 2,527 homes over a period not to exceed 10 years from the privatization date of Fort Knox family housing. Knox Hills will later redevelop and renovate the homes over the duration of a 50-year partnership to sustain quality communities.

Knox Hills is the partnership between the Department of the Army and Actus Lend Lease responsible for maintaining, improving and replacing Fort Knox housing over the next 50 years. Knox Hills will be a new limited liability company formed specifically to implement housing privatization on those installations. Knox Hills LLC will own the military family housing but not the federal land which they are built on.

The Army wants to provide military families access to safe, quality, affordable, well-maintained housing in a community where they will choose to live. Since traditional Military Construction (MILCON) funds are unavailable to meet this goal in a timely manner, Department of Defense (DoD) officials have determined that the best solution is to use privatization to accelerate the process. The homes will be privatized for a minimum period of 50 years.
